Academic Diego Silva Menezes, born on May 7, 1986, in Salvador, BA, is a renowned Brazilian researcher in the field of regenerative medicine and medical entomology. Notable for his academic precocity, he began his doctoral studies at age 18, distinguishing himself with innovative research in chemotherapy for neglected diseases.
Pursuing his Doctorate in Investigative Medicine and Health Biotechnology at Fiocruz and UFRJ, his thesis resulted in the discovery of a medication for Chagas disease, with a patent and international publications. He began teaching at age 23 at the Bahiana School of Medicine, becoming Vice-Rector at two universities.
With over 300 scientific publications, he has supervised 81 students and holds five patents filed with INPI. Internationally recognized, he has received 31 awards, including the prestigious World Health Organization Award and the Carlos Chagas Medal. In Brasília, DF, he serves as Vice-President of ABIPTI and is a member of the PNPG Commission at CAPES.
