ABOUT ME
Elsie-Elen Loureiro de Carvalho is an academic and conflict mediator, recognized through the Petrópolis Restorative Peacebuilding Municipal Program established by Law 7,532/2017. Her work stands out for offering mediation, conciliation, and negotiation to resolve conflicts swiftly and free of charge, with significant social impact at low cost, potentially replicable in other municipalities. Her specialization in conflict mediation drove this pioneering project in the country, involving various areas of public administration and partnerships with municipal departments, with a focus on training civil servants and humanizing public policy, in alignment with Federal Law 13,140/2015. After earning a Master's and Doctorate in conflict mediation, she drafted Law 8,695/2023, elevating the program to public policy status and establishing the country's first Conflict Mediation Council. Her interests include promoting conflict mediation as an alternative for fostering personal transformation, social pacification, and the goals of the UN's 2030 Agenda regarding a culture of peace. Conflict mediation, in this sense, is seen as a means of pursuing full social justice.
