Academic Emílio Kafft Kosta is a citizen of the world, anchored in Portugal and umbilically connected to Guinea-Bissau, two small "worlds" he is passionate about and where he operates masterfully and naturally with the tools of both. A dedicated and inspired devotee of legal science, he describes himself as a cultivator of knowledge, open to absorbing and producing a multiplicity of cultural competencies, with a Renaissance-like inclination. Focused on scientific research in constitutional law — where he has authored many important works — he also lends his knowledge and creativity to diverse fields of legal science (from international maritime law to administrative law, from political science to scientific research methodology and criminal law) and to literature (poetry, in particular). Exclusively concentrated, at this stage, on legal research and teaching in Lisbon, he was previously an attorney, a senior public administration official, and a justice of the highest constitutional and ordinary courts for many years.
