Fábio Marcelo Teixeira de Souza: his story began on September 17, 1967, when his beloved mother, Dona Marly Teixeira de Souza, brought him into the world to fulfill his noble mission — initially guided by intuition. And from January 11, 1990, the date of his graduation, physiotherapist Fábio Marcelo officially stepped forward to fulfill that mission: to transform lives through his hands and inspire his students. This fruitful coexistence between academia and clinical practice has enabled — and continues to enable — Dr. Fábio Marcelo to move effortlessly between science and clinical application. Dr. Fábio Marcelo taught undergraduate courses for 18 years and has lectured in postgraduate programs for 28 years at various universities throughout Brazil. He was the first physiotherapist of professional football at C.R. Flamengo in 1993, and at Kashima Antlers F.C. in Japan, brought by Zico to introduce physiotherapy in the Land of the Rising Sun. He also worked at Fluminense F.C., C.R. Vasco da Gama, Boavista S.C., and Nagoya Grampus, also in Japan. Through teaching and internship coordination, he helped train and introduce dozens of professionals into the market — especially in sports physiotherapy. Dr. Fábio Marcelo is the Technical Director of his own clinic, coordinates the Postgraduate Program in Traumatology, Orthopedics, and Sports Medicine-RJ through Interfisio, and is the current Coordinator of Physiotherapy for Football at C.R. Flamengo — the club to which he is deeply grateful for opening the doors to his brilliant career in sports physiotherapy.
