Academic Francisco Jose Pereira Barbosa, born in Fortaleza, Ceará, in 1971, began his career in his hometown soon after graduating with a Law degree from the Federal University of Ceará and passing the OAB-Ceará bar exam. He relocated to Brazil's capital in the 1990s following an appointment to a public position through a civil service exam for the Federal Judiciary, having also succeeded in several other competitive exams, including for the Federal Supreme Court, the Superior Court of Justice, the Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region, and the Court of Justice of the Federal District and Territories. He served as President of ASSOJAF-DF (Association of Federal Court Officers in the Federal District) for two consecutive terms, from 2004 to 2008. He currently practices law, registered with OAB-DF, holding a lato sensu postgraduate specialization in Civil Procedural Law from the University of Southern Santa Catarina (UNISUL), completed in 2007; a stricto sensu postgraduate Doctorate in Legal and Social Sciences from UMSA - Universidad del Museo Social Argentino, completed in 2011, qualified on September 4, 2015, and recognized by Universidade Estácio de Sá in 2024; and a stricto sensu postgraduate Post-Doctorate in Procedural Law in the Italo-Germanic and Latin American System from the Università degli Studi di Messina in Italy, qualified on October 19, 2017. Since then, he has been managing partner of the law firm Pereira Barbosa Advocacia, practicing in Canon Law and Family Law, with an emphasis on family holding structures and judicial/extrajudicial probate proceedings.
