Academic João Carlos de Sousa Costa, attorney, native of São Luís, MA, son of shoemaker Joca and housekeeper Teresa. In 1988, he came to live with his mother in the Federal District. He always remembered her saying: "My son, I never studied, but I know you have to." From a humble family, he completed secondary school at a public school and, through ProUni, completed Law at IESB. Between ages 14 and 18 he worked as a warehouse assistant, then joined the Brazilian Army, staying for 7 years. He and two friends founded Friends Informática, and later, along with his wife, started Instituto Supremo, focused on prep courses and exams. His greatest achievement is his family, made up of two wonderful children, Fernanda Rackel Souza dos Santos Costa and Fernando Abraão de Araújo Sousa Costa, and his beautiful, extraordinary wife, Joana Dark de Araújo Souza Costa.
