Academic José Elaeres Marques Teixeira is Deputy Attorney General of the Republic, the highest career level of the Federal Public Ministry, an institution to which he has belonged for more than three decades. He practices before the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) and is a member of the Third Coordination and Review Chamber of the Federal Public Ministry, which handles matters related to economic order and consumer protection. He holds a Master's in Law from the Federal University of Santa Catarina and is a Doctoral candidate in Rule of Law and Global Governance at the University of Salamanca, Spain. He has published a book and legal articles. From Santana do Livramento, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, he is married to Mayra Fontes Mascarenhas Teixeira. He has two children, Priscila and Gabriel, and a grandson, Tomás. He has resided in Brasília for more than 40 years.
