Academic Marcelo Bruner is the youngest of eight siblings, children of Mr. Benedito, a gardener, and Mrs. Maria Aparecida, a housekeeper. Born in the Vila Kennedy community, he began working at age eight and already envisioned growth through education and study. Financial difficulties remained an obstacle, with the young Marcelo Bruner frequently visiting the financial office of his college for each re-enrollment period. He was then a paratrooper and a civil servant. Marcelo earned his Bachelor's in Law in 2004, becoming an attorney in January 2005. A theologian, he taught for ten years. He is an evangelical pastor, and has been expanding his mission leading the Crescendo na Unção Ministry, with assistance projects in the area around the Santíssimo neighborhood. Approved for the position of Police Chief of the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police in 2006, he declined, knowing he was born to defend. He is a specialist in Criminal Law and Procedure; in Public Administration; in Copyright Law; and in Electoral Law. He holds four Doctor Honoris Causa titles; a commendation granted by the Rio de Janeiro City Council; and the Pedro Ernesto Medal. Marcelo has three children — Marlon, Daniel, and Marcelly — and is married to Juliana Bruner. He is CEO of M. Bruner Advogados Associados, which has twelve attorneys, branches in the city of Rio de Janeiro, and professional partnerships in various countries in Europe, the United States, and in Dubai.
