Academic Marcos Gutemberg Fialho da Costa, socially known as Dr. Gutemberg Fialho, is a 59-year-old physician and attorney, married and father of three. He graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Paraíba in 1988 and settled in the Federal District the same year to complete his medical residency, specializing in Gynecology and Obstetrics, Internal Medicine, Occupational Medicine, Forensic Medicine, and Medical Examination, in addition to postgraduate specializations in various medical fields. He also graduated in Law from the Faculdades Integradas do Planalto Central and specialized in Medical Law.
Throughout his career, Gutemberg worked at various hospitals and companies in the Federal District, including the Postal Service and the now-defunct Telebrasília, in addition to serving as a forensic physician at the Federal District Department of Economy and maintaining a private practice at Hospital Santa Marta in Taguatinga. He distinguished himself in women's health care, delivering more than 4,000 babies throughout his career.
Beyond his professional activities, Gutemberg is an active figure in labor organizations, having served as President of Sindmédico-DF and the National Federation of Physicians. He is also an advocate for the Unified Health System (SUS) and public service, having led union movements in defense of the Federal District's public service. Gutemberg ran for District Deputy three times and is the author and co-author of several books on medicine and law. He is also known for his lectures and articles in publications such as Semanário Brasília Capital and the Masonic magazine Entre Colunas. Gutemberg is the creator and president of the Brasília Institute of Medical Examinations (IBPM) and remains a prominent figure in both the medical and legal communities of the Federal District.
