Academic Marcus Vinicius de Mello Pinto is a scientist and physiotherapist who completed his Doctorate in Medicine, in the field of Medical Sciences and Rehabilitation, from UFRJ/UBA in 2004. In 2005, he completed his post-doctorate at Johns Hopkins University. In 2014, he received the Order of Saint Andrew Hospitaller Medal for services rendered to diabetic foot care. He is the author of the M.A.C. methodology. In 2023, he was awarded for this methodology, once in Brazil and once in Chile. He holds 1 registered patent for the Ulcerax ointment, for photodynamic therapy in the treatment of ulcers, diabetic wounds, and diabetic neuropathy. He is the author of 225 articles in specialized international journals. He has 3 published books and conducts research on tissue repair of ulcers, wounds, pain, oncological pain, and burns.
