Academic Mauro Faria de Lima, a native of Palmeiras de Goiás, GO, holds a Master's in Human Rights from the Catholic University of Brasília. He served as a Justice Prosecutor for 25 years, was an Attorney of Justice, holding the position of head of the 6th Criminal Prosecution Office of the Public Ministry of the Federal District and Territories. He played a significant role in defending human rights, fighting for the protection of women and girls facing violence, working on the project conceived by the Laço Branco Brasil institution, "Homens de Honra" (Men of Honor). He is an Honorary Citizen of Brasília, a title granted by the Federal District Legislative Chamber. He is the author of various literary contributions, notably the book "Comentários à Lei de Tortura" (Commentary on the Torture Law), published in 1997, being the first author to comment on that law, which has served as a reference for numerous studies.
