Rômulo José Ricarte de Souza, a native of Rio de Janeiro (capital), is a career military officer of the Federal District Military Police (PMDF), with more than 30 years of distinguished service to the country's public and institutional security. Married, father of two daughters, and a grandfather, he has built a career grounded in discipline, loyalty, social commitment, and dedication to public service.
His military career began at the Presidential Guard Battalion, having also served as a Sergeant in the Military Police of the State of Goiás (PMGO). He holds an academic background in Security and Public Order from the Catholic University of Brasília, in addition to extensive technical training and specializations in various security fields.
He served as Presidential Personal Security at the Institutional Security Office (GSI) for four years, headed security for the Federal District Government, and participated in missions in more than 15 Brazilian states and seven countries, always within the scope of senior official protection, accumulating extensive operational and strategic experience.
Alongside his military career, he develops a social project for children and adolescents in the southern outskirts of the Federal District, primarily serving families in socially vulnerable situations, with activities including welcoming, sports, leisure, education, security, and basic assistance. A member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, Arts, History and Literature, he feels honored to be part of this distinguished institution, maintaining an ongoing commitment to personal, ethical, and intellectual improvement, with the purpose of leaving a solid legacy for future generations.
